What we build on: our values
Trust and progress since 1873
We’ve evolved as a company for over 150 years to help our customers move forward. We work hard every day to be the right partner to accelerate your success.
The beginnings – 1873
At the age of 26, Jakob Dieffenbacher founded a small factory for fruit, wine and edible-oil presses. Located in the heart of Eppingen, his original business also included a locksmithery. His work laid the foundation for the group of companies that today operates successfully worldwide.
First steps toward composites – end of the 1920s
Plastic was in vogue, and Dieffenbacher began to build the first bakelite presses. Today’s composites sector was shaped by numerous product innovations and process developments during these early days. Dieffenbacher offers the largest variety of manufacturing processes and products designed for the production of composite materials.
Beginnings in the wood-based panels business – the 1950s
The 1950s were the age of wood, and in 1957 we delivered the first single-opening particleboard plant. Innovations such as a continuously operating cold prepress and the first continuous press (in 1990) were important steps toward faster, more accurate and more efficient production systems. In 2015, we created the new gold standard in continuous pressing – the CPS+.
Sustainability through innovative recycling solutions – from 2014
In 2014, our innovations helped companies in the recycling sector achieve the next level of sustainability. Using components from our existing product portfolio and integrating new sorting and processing technologies from various partners, we developed novel recycling solutions for and with our customers.
Personally committed –
our family tradition
In an industry where anonymous entities and unclear ownership are common, Dieffenbacher customers know their supplier. The Dieffenbacher family is a guarantor of stability and a point of contact today.
The founder
At the age of 26, Jakob Dieffenbacher founded a small factory for fruit, wine and edible-oil presses. His original business also included a locksmithery.
The second generation
In 1910, Wilhelm and Friedrich Dieffenbacher joined their father’s company. They were responsible for developing the first presses for the plastics sector.
A new sector
In 1952, Albert Dieffenbacher (Friedrich Dieffenbacher’s son) and Gerhard Dieffenbacher (Wilhelm Dieffenbacher’s son) took over management of the company. They were mainly responsible for the expansion of the wood-based panels business.
Momentum continues
Gerhard Dieffenbacher’s son Wolf-Gerd Dieffenbacher has led the business since 1985 and was primarily responsible for the company becoming a globally successful complete plant constructor.
Sustainably into the future
Wolf-Gerd Dieffenbacher's son Christian joins the Management Board in 2016 and takes over the position of CEO from his father in 2019.
Lukas Langer, grandson of Albert Dieffenbacher, joins the Management Board as CFO in 2024. Together, they continue to lead the company into the future in the fifth generation.
