LFT-D: Modernization of the plant control system for uninterrupted production
Customer: Autoneum Switzerland
The discontinuation of components by the supplier industry is constantly increasing. If precautions are not taken early enough, spare parts can no longer be supplied and your production is at risk. Discontinued components made the current safety control of the LFT-D plant at Autoneum no longer fit for the future.
This is how we have brought Autoneum forward:
The Automotive Supplier Autoneum develops and produces lightweight, acoustic, and thermal management solution components. The company is producing LFT-D components in its plant in Switzerland on a Dieffenbacher system since 2006. The fully automated line consists of an LFT-D extruder, a hydraulic press and a punching press. The line plays a key role in the production chain. A failure would affect the entire production.
In the past, a PILZ PSS3000 safety control system ensured that the plant's safety and availability were guaranteed. However, due to discontinued and no longer available components, the current control system was no longer future-proof. Autoneum therefore decided to modernize the system, which would include not only the safety control system, but also the discontinued and obsolete drives and inverters of the extruder system and the plastificate discharge conveyor.
The Dieffenbacher team modernized the complete plant in less than three weeks. Thanks to the modernization, the system is now fit for the future. Dieffenbacher Service ensures the supply of spare parts and provides fast help in case of support so that Autoneum can produce without interruption.
