A Dieffenbacher plant was commissioned in Torzhok, 230 km north of Moscow, in 2008. Since then, Modern Lumber Technologies (MLT) has produced 120,000 m³ of LVL annually on one of the largest individual LVL plants in the world. Plans for additional LVL and OSB plants were initially halted by the financial crisis. With Dieffenbacher at its side, MLT revived one of these plans three years later. The result is one of the largest OSB plants in the world.
To meet the high demand of the Russian market, the new plant had to be able to produce 600,000 m³ of OSB per year. Dieffenbacher earned the project with a commercially and technologically impressive offer, and MLT’s experience with the LVL plant. The relationship of trust between MLT and Dieffenbacher proved an excellent foundation for further cooperation.
Together with MLT, we created a world-class OSB plant. The exceptionally large scope covered all sections, from debarking to strapping the ready-to-ship boards. Due to the size of the plant, two complete material preparation lines, two drum dryers and two energy plants were installed. The project was Dieffenbacher’s largest and most complex to date. For MLT, the efficient solution helped to meet the demand of the Russian market for high-quality OSB boards for prefabricated houses.
