Energy-saving production of underbody covers in mass production with Dieffenbacher LFT-D line
Customer: Polytec Group, Rosendaal, Netherlands
Polytec in Rosendaal manufactures underbody covers and battery underride protection for the automotive industry on a Dieffenbacher LFT-D line (long fiber thermoplastic direct line). The fully automated production line consists of an LFT-D direct compounding line (Dieffenbacher two-extruder technology), the CompressPlus press and a stamping press. The high-precision CompressPlus with 43,000 kN press force is designed for forming complex components while ensuring short cycle times. The press force can be reduced by a fast pressure build-up time - this saves energy and still guarantees a good material flow.
That’s how we helped Polytec get ahead
With the Dieffenbacher LFT-D line, semi-finished products are produced directly on site, avoiding related cost-intensive semi-finished product and logistics costs. Glass rovings are unwound for this purpose and fed to the compounder. Polytec can flexibly adapt its material formula to component requirements using the metering station. A higher-level system control ensures high component quality and system availability, while a high material throughput with short cycle times enables production in large quantities.
