Benedikt reports on his internship abroad during his dual-study program

During my time at the DIEFFENBACHER site in Alpharetta, I met many new people, had interesting experiences and improved my English. I had many different to-dos at work:

• I visited all the departments to understand their work and had good discussions with my colleagues.
• I took part in a project to analyze our cylinder seals.
• Together with a customer support specialist, I visited our customer, Langboard Inc. There, I saw one of our multi-daylight presses and gained valuable insights from my colleague’s conversation with the customer. It was impressive to see how the individual sections of the press and the entire system work together and interlock like cogwheels.
• One of my highlights was attending the annual meeting of employees working at the site. The meeting started with a joint lunch, which included colleagues working remotely or traveling for work. Later, managers presented the latest developments in their areas, and the site goals and strategy were communicated. It was exciting to see how dynamic the exchange was throughout the meeting and that all employees shared their personal experiences in an open and natural way. At the end of the meeting, all employees and their families went to play top golf.

In addition to work, there was a lot to do and discover, including a canoe trip, hikes and attending a baseball game. The baseball game was exciting, and I gradually began to understand the rules. While the hometown Atlanta Braves were defeated, it was still a great atmosphere.
